You can change the background color behind your static proof and review static proofs with transparent or semi-transparent elements in the Proof Viewer. This is useful when reviewing logos, overlays, or layered compositions.
Available on: Free Standard Pro Enterprise
Note: Screen captures reflect the Enterprise edition of Ziflow. You may not see some features or options depending on the proof permissions you have been granted and your Ziflow edition.
Note: Ziflow only supports background color changing for static proofs.
Background options
You can toggle between the following backgrounds:
- Automatic (based on your current light/dark mode preference)
- Checkerboard (commonly used to highlight transparency)
- White
- Black
- Custom (set a custom color)
Transparent image support
When reviewing static proofs with transparent elements, the Proof Viewer renders those areas as see-through rather than filling them with a solid background. This ensures that what you see aligns with how the asset was designed to appear in its intended environment.
Supported file formats include:
- PNG
- GIF
- TIFF
- SVG
Note: Transparency is supported for original and processed images. For information about this setting, see Configure default Proof Viewer settings > Other options > Show original image.
Change the background
To better assess how a transparent asset appears in different visual contexts, you can change the background color in the Proof Viewer.
- Open a proof in the Proof Viewer.
- Select the Background color icon and choose a background.
- To close the background selector window and use your new background, click anywhere outside of it.
Set a custom background color
Only you can see your custom background, it will not affect anyone else's view.
- Open a proof in the Proof Viewer.
- Select the Background color icon and choose the custom color circle (far right option).
- Use the color picker or enter a hex code to define your custom background color.
- To close the color selector window and use your new background, click anywhere outside of it.
Best practices for reviewing transparent assets
- Use the checkerboard background to clearly identify transparent regions.
- Test assets against multiple background colors to ensure visibility and contrast.
