Integrating Basecamp with Ziflow lets teams extend their Ziflow online proofing operations to Basecamp. Users can automatically create and update tasks in Basecamp for new proofs, comments, and decisions to keep their team up to date.
Available on: Pro Enterprise
Before setting up the integration between Ziflow and any third-party tool, it is necessary to connect Ziflow with the external application.
Connect with Basecamp
To connect to Basecamp, you must have administrator rights to authorize access.
Ziflow recommends that your organization use one administrator account to connect integrations in order to maintain stable integrations, prevent disconnects, and keep your flows working consistently.
Log into Ziflow. From the main navigation pane, select the Connect tab.
Select Applications to open the applications list. Find the Basecamp application and select Connect.
Log in to your Basecamp account
Verify your Basecamp account
-
Read the permissions request and select Accept to complete the process of connecting Ziflow and Basecamp together.
Select the Basecamp tile again, choose the Settings tab, and select Show next to the Application fields on a proof to enable Basecamp fields at the proof level.
Re-authenticate or remove your app
To re-authenticate or remove your connection:
- From the Ziflow navigation pane, select the Connect tab.
- Select Applications to open the applications list.
- Click the Basecamp application in the list to open the connection details and select the options menu (three dots).
- Choose to Re-authenticate or Remove.
Removing the connection will disable any flows you have created with it.
Set up Basecamp automated flows
Once Ziflow and Basecamp are connected, you can begin setting up automated flows to send information to Basecamp.
Before you begin, connect your Ziflow app. See Connect your Ziflow app.
- Choose Connect and select Create Flow in the upper-right corner of the window.
- Select Ziflow as the Application and choose which Event you want to start the integration. For more information, see Ziflow events.

Basecamp Zibot actions
After choosing a Ziflow event, choose a Basecamp Zibot action that will pass the information from the Ziflow event directly to Basecamp.
Fields in every Basecamp Zibot
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Application | The Basecamp connection to use. |
| Account | The Basecamp account to work in. Required. |
Choose a project
Most Basecamp Zibots ask which project to use. Choose one of these options:
- Select from projects in the account: Select the project, and then any to-do set, list, or folder, from lists. Use this when every proof in the flow belongs to the same project.
- Provided from previous action or direct ID: Enter IDs instead of selecting from lists. Type an ID, or select the token icon to insert one from the proof's Basecamp details or from an earlier Zibot. Use this so one flow works for many projects.
To insert a value, select the token icon next to a field. These token groups are useful with Basecamp:
- Proof: Proof details, such as Name, Public link, and Folder > Name
- External applications > Basecamp > Basecamp todo details: The Basecamp to-do linked to the proof: Account, Project, Todo Set, Todo List, Todo List Group, and Todo
- An earlier Basecamp Zibot in the flow, for example Add Basecamp todo > ID
Note: A token is inserted at the start of a field. Insert the token first, then type any text after it.
Search Basecamp Project
Find a project by name, so later Zibots in the flow can use its ID.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Account | The Basecamp account to search. |

Connect Ziflow proofs with Basecamp to-dos
Link a proof to a Basecamp to-do so flows can update or complete that to-do. You can link proofs when you create a proof or from proof details.
Important: Application fields on a proof must be set to Show in the Basecamp connection settings. See Connect Ziflow with Basecamp.
Open the proof's details and select the Integrations tab.
Under Basecamp, select Add next to Todo.
Paste the to-do's Basecamp URL, or select Search to choose it from lists.
If you selected Search, choose the Account, Project, Todo Set, Todo List, [optional] Todo List Group, and Todo. Each list becomes available after you choose the one above it.
Select Save.
These values are the Basecamp todo details that flows can insert as tokens.
