Understand how to maintain a stable monday.com integration, prevent disconnects, and keep your flows working consistently.
Understand how the integration works
The monday.com integration relies on a connection (widget) that acts as the anchor between monday.com and Ziflow.
Flow templates (automations) depend on this connection. If the connection changes, flows can disconnect, duplicate, or behave inconsistently.
Why integrations disconnect
Integrations can disconnect when the underlying connection context changes.
Common causes include:
- Connection token expires or is refreshed
- Permissions change for the connection owner
- Board structure or column configuration changes
These are expected behaviors in monday.com and cannot be fully avoided.
Standardize your integration setup
A stable setup uses a single, consistent connection.
Best practice setup
- Use one primary widget connection per account
- Ensure all templates use the same connection
- Avoid multiple user-based connections
- Avoid duplicate flow templates
- Limit frequent board structure changes
- Re-authenticate after major updates
Assign a connection owner
Define a primary owner and connection for your account:
- monday.com admin or account owner
- Workspace owner or manager
This reduces the risk of disconnects caused by permission changes or user deactivation.
The primary widget owner is identified with the label widget in your monday.com integration. To transfer ownership, see Transfer monday.com widget ownership.
Clean up duplicate connections and flows
If you see duplicate flows or unused connections, you may want to perform a cleanup. Before removing anything, meet with other Ziflow administrators on your account to understand which monday.com boards are being used and which connections are in use.
Remove unused connections
Removing connections can only be performed by the connection owner.
- Log into Ziflow and go to Connect > Applications > monday.com
- In the Connections tab, remove outdated or user-specific connections
Standardize the active connection
- Rename the connection (for example: Widget – Primary).
- Re-authenticate the connection.
Deactivate duplicate flows
- Log into Ziflow and go to Connect.
- Select Active flows.
- Deactivate (do not delete) duplicate flows tied to old connections.
Reassign flow templates
- Log into Ziflow and go to Connect > Applications > monday.com.
- In the Flow templates tab, select Setup.
- Ensure all templates use the standardized connection.
Restore custom columns
If you have created any custom columns (such as "Last updated"), they may not automatically restore after reconnection.
Add the column
- Go to your Ziflow Proofs board
- Add a new column
- Search for your custom column
If using mirrored data
- Add a Mirror column
- Connect it to the correct Ziflow Proofs board
- Select the custom column field
After reconnecting:
- Confirm the mirror column points to the current board
- Avoid referencing legacy boards tied to old connections
